Terms & Conditions

We promote and accept ALL wine varieties. There are two competitions for you to participate in:

  1. The Aotearoa Regional Wine Competition (ARWC) is open to all wines produced in New Zealand.
  2. The Regional Champion Competition (RCC) where our panel of judges will judge New Zealand wines that meet the criteria of being produced with at least 85% of grapes, from a single New Zealand region. There is no charge to enter the Regional Champions Competition (RCC), however, you can only enter the RCC if you have entered a wine in the ARWC. The RCC also welcomes the winners of other A&P Wine Competitions.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR THE Aotearoa Regional Wine Competition (ARWC)

  1. The ARWC is open to all wines produced in New Zealand.
  2. Wines must be commercially available.
  3. Entries are restricted to commercially bottled wines (i.e. tank or barrel samples are not permitted).
  4. Entry fee to the ARWC is $70.00NZD per wine (GST inclusive).

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY FOR THE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS COMPETITION (RCC)

  1. The RCC is open to all wine varieties produced in Aotearoa. To be eligible to enter the RCC, your wine must be able to show 85% of its grapes were grown in the region it is entered in (region boundaries defined by the NZ Government regional boundary maps). Regions are defined below.
  2. REGIONAL CHAMPIONS CLASSES (RCC) Sparkling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Emerging White Wines, Rose, Pinot Noir, Single Varietal Reds, Syrah/Shiraz.
  3. Wines must be commercially available.
  4. Entries are restricted to commercially bottled wines (i.e. tank or barrel samples are not permitted).
  5. There is no minimum litreage required for the RCC.

WINE REGIONS

  1. Auckland (including Waiheke Island and Northland)
  2. Gisborne
  3. Hawkes Bay
  4. Wairarapa
  5. Marlborough
  6. Tasman (including Nelson)
  7. Canterbury
  8. Otago
  9. Waitaki Valley

ENTRY PROCEDURES AND FEES

  1. All entries must accompany an entry fee of $70NZD per wine (includes GST) for the ARWC. It is free to enter the RCC, however, you can only enter the RCC if you have entered a wine in the ARWC. You do not need to provide an additional three bottles if you are entering in the RCC. We will use the same bottles as entered in the ARWC. Each entry must include three 750ml bottles or three 375ml bottles for Sweet Wines (Class 8).
  2. Entries are to be delivered to the Canterbury A&P Association Office, Canterbury Agricultural Park, 102 Curletts Road, Hillmorton, Christchurch 8042.
  3. Entries close 4pm Wednesday 9th August 2023.
  4. Wine must be delivered to the Canterbury A&P Association Office by Friday 16th August 2023.

WINE DISPLAY AT THE NZAG SHOW

All of our Gold Winners will be required to send a further three bottles to the delivery address noted above by the 13th October 2023. Postage and costs of additional bottles will be the responsibility of the winning winemaker.

WINNER OF THE ARWC

As part of winning the ARWC we require a further 12 bottles for a public tasting display at the New Zealand Agricultural Show (15 - 17 November 2023) & another 12 bottles for The George Hotel, to be used in their Wine of the Month promotional campaign. With the prospect for it to be on The George's wine list. *Please note if the final number of bottles is a challenge, we are happy to discuss this with you. Delivery address & date is noted above. Postage and costs of additional bottles will be the responsibility of the winning winemaker.

DISPUTES

The Chairman of Judges decision will be final.

PUBLICITY

In any advertising, promotion and publicity, an entrant may refer only to an award won by the entrants wine and not (whether expressly or by implication) to the wine or competition performance of any entrant or entrants. Any use of an award in advertising, promotional or publicity material must be accompanied by a statement of the actual award won and the year or years in which they were won and any award illustrated must relate to the award described.
